Savings on hay waste will pay for the cost of the feeder in one to two years!
All of our feeders are designed with saving hay in mind. The average savings have been calculated at 20%- 50% from other types of hay feeding. When paying an average of $4.00-$12.00 per bale of hay, that is a savings of $.80-$6.00 per bale. Averaged out over a year time that can add up to $31.20-$234.00 per animal. Considering an average breeder has 20 animals that is an annual savings of $624.00- $4,680.00 for an average farm or ranch. So the savings in hay waste alone can pay for the cost of 3 or 4 feeders over a one or two year period!

Avoid E.mac and other parasites!
Feeding hay or grain on the ground on the ground can promote parasite loads especially coccidia like E Mac that doesn’t go through a larval stage to be infective. Using a Hay Saver feeder to feed hay and grain keeps them off the ground and reduces the risk of parasite transference.

Avoid Choke
By feeding grain (pelleted supplement to hay) on the tray of the Hay Saver Feeder the risk of choke is greatly reduced to the point of being practically impossible. Choke occurs when an animal “inhales” a large quantity of grain that gets caught in the esophagus after expanding from exposure to saliva. By feeding the grain in the tray of the Hay Saver Feeder the grain is spread out on a flat surface so the animal has to “chase” the grain thereby slowing the consumption to very safe rates. A secondary benefit of feeding in the tray is that the hay remnants are moved around which avoids the build up of moisture laden hay and debris. The hay in the tray stays fresher and is more easily consumed further reducing waste.
NEW!!4' Bale Box Hay Feeder
4' Bale Box Hay Feeder
A new and better designed feeder for getting the food to multiple animals at once, while minimizing the loss of food and mess. Being able to load 2 bales of hay at a time reduces the amount of work necessary to best feed your animals while reducing the feeding time of the animals with the revolutionary 360° feeder. The low design allows all sizes of animals to feed at one time and the gravity driven, secured grate ensures the animals get food while preventing hay loss.
The dimensions are
38.5"x 49.5" and 21" deep.

• Our Hay Saver Feeders are manufactured in three different varieties.
Single sided feeders are ideal for the inside areas of a farm or ranch, barn, three sided or under awnings.
The double sided feeders are most useful in the outdoor areas of a farm or ranch, paddocks, or in pastures.
Finally the newest feeder is the Bale Feeder; the best place for these feeders is inside barns or inside three sided enclosures.

All of our feeders are designed with saving hay in mind. The average savings has been calculated at 20%- 50% from other types of hay feeding. When paying an average of $4.00-$12.00 per bale of hay, that is a savings of $.80-$6.00 per bale. Averaged out over a year time that can add up to $31.20-$234.00 per animal. • And clean up is minimal. no more wet, messy hay to clean up in the spring

• All Hay Saver Feeders are made from strong (16) gauge square tubing. Most being made from the ¾” square tubing, with some bases being made out of 1” square tubing. This provides a strong structure for containing the hay and being able to take plenty of abuse by the animals.

• We now has two different varieties of grate inserts for the Double Sided feeders, the first being the traditional mesh insert: This is a 4”X4” (10) gauge mesh insert cut to fit in a V grate based on the size of feeder that is ordered (4’-8’ feeder). The next is a newer bar insert cut to fit into the same V grate. This is the same frame as the mesh grate although it is made with ¼” Hot Rolled steel. The Hot Rolling process of steel provides for a stronger and more durable end product. These rods are spaced on a 3½” in center, providing just enough room for the animal to eat yet not get their heads caught in between the bars.

• All Hay Saver Feeders are constructed of the same “Tuff Sheet” material used in our other equipment providing the lightweight and durability of the feeders. This material is easily cleaned and can be easily replaced if damage was to occur.
Tips for use of the Hay Saver Feeders
There have been instances where the hay saver feeders have been implicated in hair loss on the noses of livestock. We have used the hay saver feeders on our farm for a number of years. We had experienced occasional hair loss on noses prior to using the hay saver feeders and have experienced the same since using them.

Here are some tips to reduce the risk of hair loss from the hay saver feeders:

1) Keep the feeders high enough - if the livestock are entering the mesh at an acute angle there is more chance of abrasion on the bridge of the nose from the mesh of the feeders. Taller animals are more likely to access low feeders at an acute angle.

2) Keep the feeders full - if the livestock are having to work and dig to access hay there is a greater risk of abrasion.

3) Have enough feeders - if too many animals are trying to access too few feeders they may become more aggressive at accessing the hay and may cause abrasion.

Other potential factors in hair loss on noses:
Zinc deficiency
Mange/Mites

Hair loss on the bridge of the nose for whatever reason almost always seems to occur in dark color animals.

Hair loss on a nose from an animal driving for hay in a hay saver feeder is always shaped in a triangular fashion (see example below).

The temperament of the livestock often has something to do with this type of hair loss where the aggressive eaters may push more.

Hair loss on the nose not related to hay saver feeders will take many shapes however is distinct from the triangular shape that occurs in rare cases from feeder use (see examples)

Cold climate closure option:

1)The double sided feeders are supplied with a double ended thumb latch. However in wet cold climates the thumb latch can freeze in the winter making them inoperable. As an option we can supply a bungee cord in the proper length & strength to be used as show in the photo to the left. Please add this item to your order at the time of ordering. Jay Ward

Hi Jay,

My wife and I recently attended the alpaca show in Springfield Mass. We are a new farm and have many decisions as to where our money should go. We were really contemplating the need versus the want for a hay feeder. While at the show I spoke to you and your staff about the feeders and we left with a 6’ double sided feeder. Aside from the digital scale it has been the best item we have purchased from you. We are extremely impressed; there is very little waste on the ground and the alpacas love eating from it. Thanks so much to you and your knowledgeable staff! We look forward to doing more business with you in the future.

What a great investment.
